Hubert "Sonny" L. Cave, Jr. - Obituary

Hubert L. (Sonny) Cave, Jr., 87, of Davidsonville, MD, died at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Born on April 10, 1937 in Washington, DC, Sonny is survived by his daughters, Diane Cave of Davidsonville and Jean Teetsell (Dale) of Davidsonville, grandson Michael Staples, Jr. (Katy), granddaughter Raquel Cave and great-granddaughter Kinlee Staples. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Carol Cave, his son, Hubert L. (Butch) Cave, III, and his daughter Nancy Basham. Sonny grew up in Washington, DC, and attended Western High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the District of Columbia Police Department. Following his retirement from the police department, he moved to Anne Arundel County and worked for the Annapolis Housing Authority. Sonny will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and as an avid fan of thoroughbred horse racing, the Washington Nationals, and Washington Redskins. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sonny's life on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 2 pm until 4 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD 21035. The interment will be private.
